Accreditation & Regulatory Affairs

About our accreditation

American College of Education has been regionally accredited through the Higher Learning Commission since 2005. All American College of Education degree programs are accredited by a regional accreditation agency, making our degrees honored across the world. Regional accreditation is the most widely accepted form of accreditation.

National accreditation through the Teacher Education Accreditation Council is an optional accreditation that we have sought for our degree programs. This national accreditation is an additional seal of approval indicating that our programs meet specific criteria for educator preparation programs.

All programs that lead to a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, including all specializations and concentrations, are nationally accredited through TEAC.

In October 2012, TEAC announced a merger with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) to form the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), which will be the sole accreditor for educator preparation programs in the United States. American College of Education’s program accreditation through TEAC will transfer to CAEP.

Statements of accreditation

American College of Education is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The College’s accreditation includes approval to offer degree programs through distance education via the Internet.

For more information on American College of Education's regional accreditation, please click here.

American College of Education's Professional Education Programs (M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, M.Ed. in English as a Second Language, M.Ed. in  Bilingual Education, M.Ed. in Educational Technology) which are designed to provide graduate students with the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to enhance their teaching and further their careers, are granted Accreditation by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) for a period of seven years, from May 3, 2013 to May 3, 2020. This accreditation certifies that the forenamed professional education programs have provided evidence that they adhere to TEAC's quality principles.

The Summary of the Case, written by TEAC auditors and approved by ACE faculty and administration, reflect the auditors’ understanding of the case ACE’s faculty and administration made for accreditation.

Per the U.S. Department of Education, accreditation remains with TEAC until American College of Education’s next accreditation under CAEP is due. Accordingly, American College of Education will continue to use the appropriate logo and language related to our TEAC accreditation.
