Admissions Requirements

General admission requirements

The following requirements apply to all American College of Education online master’s degree programs. Additional requirements for specific degrees or endorsements may be required and will be listed with each course description if applicable. If you are considering a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, please note that an internship is required.

  • All applicants to American College of Education graduate degree programs must have attained at least a 2.75 G.P.A. for their undergraduate degree, or highest post-baccalaureate degree completed. Candidates whose G.P.A. is lower than 2.75, but who otherwise meet entrance requirements, may be admitted provisionally.
  • All applicants must present documentation of professional teaching or school services certificate, and completion of all state certification requirements.
  • All applicants to American College of Education whose first language is not English must demonstrate competence in the English language. English language competence can be demonstrated in one of three ways:
    1. Submission of a diploma from a United States secondary school or college/university. 
    2. Submission of a diploma from a secondary school or college/university whose country uses English as a primary means of instruction including: Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Botswana, Canada, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Gambia, Ghana, Great Britain, Grenada, Guyana, Iberia, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Trinidad, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
    3. Submission of an official minimum score on the written or computer-based TOEFL. The minimum written TOEFL score required for written version is 550 and for the computer-based version is 80 or above.

If the original transcript is international and/or not in English, it must be evaluated through AACRAO International Education Services or any evaluation agency credentialed through NACES. All applicants to American College of Education graduate degree programs must have attained at least a 2.75 G.P.A. for their undergraduate degree or highest post-baccalaureate degree completed.

Documentation of professional teaching or school services certificate and completion of all state certification requirements are required. Documentation of certification can be mailed to the above address, emailed to the Office of Admissions or efaxed to the Office of Admissions at ace.admissions@ace.edu.
