Admission Requirements
To gain admission to M.Ed. programs, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
- All applicants to American College of Education graduate degree programs must have attained at least a 2.75 G.P.A. for their undergraduate degree or highest post-baccalaureate degree completed. Candidates whose G.P.A. is lower than 2.75, but who otherwise meet entrance requirements, may be admitted provisionally.
- All applicants to American College of Education whose first language is not English must demonstrate competence in the English language. English language competence can be demonstrated in one of three ways:
- Submission of a diploma from a United States secondary school or college/university.
- Submission of a diploma from a secondary school or college/university whose country uses English as a primary means of instruction, including Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Botswana, Canada, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Gambia, Ghana, Great Britain, Grenada, Guyana, Iberia, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Trinidad, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Submission of an official minimum score on the written or computer-based TOEFL. The minimum written TOEFL score required for written version is 550 and for the computer-based version is 213.
- Prior to being admitted to a graduate program that could lead to a new Illinois certification (Educational Leadership or Educational Technology), an applicant must document completion of the Illinois Test of Basic Skills.
Graduation Requirements
- 12 courses with 3.0 cumulative GPA
- 1 passed Capstone Experience course
