American College of Education Allocates Nearly $400,000 in Scholarships with Discovery Education Sweepstakes

Enrolling students receive $580 tuition scholarship towards master's degree

CHICAGO (Sept.15, 2011) American College of Education today announces it is allocating nearly $400,000 in scholarships in conjunction with the Discovery Education New Teacher Survival Central Sweepstakes.

As a sweepstakes sponsor, the online distance learning college for educators will award a $580 scholarship to each sweepstake entrant who enrolls in one of its master's degree programs. To receive the scholarship, students can choose from one of three start dates beginning October 17, 2011.

American College of Education is also awarding the Discovery Education grand prize winner a classroom set of 10 Barnes & Noble NOOK ColorTMtablets.

"American College of Education is thrilled to work with Discovery Education to provide new and experienced teachers with an affordable means of earning their master's degree," said Sandra J. "Our tuition scholarships will help educators acquire skills that benefit their students as well as their own personal and professional growth. New Teacher Survival Central is an online destination featuring resources as diverse as creating environmentally friendly classrooms to dealing with bullying to learning how educational technologies promote student engagement.

The New Teacher Survival Central Sweepstakes grand prize winner will also receive an all-expense paid trip to Costa Rica with New Teacher Survival Central Discovery Student Adventure, a New Teacher Survival Prize Pack consisting of a STEM survival package provided by Learning.com, an Elmer's Classroom Prize Pack and a DVD Collection from Discovery Education. The sweepstakes closes December 17, 2011.

Admissions deadlines for American College of Education are October 10, 2011 for classes beginning October 17, 2011; November 21, 2011 for classes beginning November 28, 2011; and December 17, 2011 for classes beginning January 23, 2012.
