Indiana Teacher Wins "Dream Big" Sweepstakes

American College of Education Announces Full Scholarship Winner for Master of Education Degree and $500 Scholastic Teacher Store Gift Certificate

New York, NY and Chicago, IL – American College of Education today announced the winner of the Dream Big Scholarship Sweepstakes. As winner of the nationwide sweepstakes, Cindy Stahl of Fort Wayne, Indiana will receive a full scholarship for a master of education online degree program at American College of Education and a $500 gift certificate for educational materials from the Scholastic Teacher Store.

"Getting involved in an ESL program has always been a dream for me, one that I didn't think would be possible. I had worked in an ESL classroom while serving in AmeriCorps, and the experience stuck with me. Because of this scholarship, I'll be able to see my dream come true," says Indiana teacher Cindy Stahl. Stahl plans to start her online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with the English as a Second Language specialization in August 2010. Stahl was randomly selected out of more than 4,500 entrants as the scholarship for master of education recipient. Mrs. Stahl is a language arts teacher for grades 5 through 8.

Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education and media company, teamed up with American College of Education, an Illinois College of Education that provides affordable, accredited master of education online degrees to promote the sweepstakes. The sweepstakes began in January 2010 and the winner was randomly chosen on June 15, 2010. More than 4,500 educators from across the country entered the sweepstakes, and many sweepstakes entrants have already enrolled in one of the online master of education programs offered at American College of Education.

"Working with a partner like Scholastic to offer someone a chance to get their master's degree was wonderful. We congratulate Ms. Stahl and look forward to supporting her as she completes her degree," said Dr. Jeri Nowakowski, president at American College of Education.

"We were thrilled to offer this opportunity through our teacher channel on Scholastic.com, as well as through our print publications Instructor and Scholastic Administrator," said Michele Robinson, Group Publisher of Scholastic Professional Media. "Scholastic has a 90-year history of supporting teachers with the resources and tools they need to do their job well, and we're excited to be a part of helping this teacher expand her professional horizons."

American College of Education provides monthly start dates, online delivery and affordable tuition of $6,950 which makes it possible for teachers to obtain their master's degree. Students choose from the following online masters in education degrees: M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, M.Ed. in Educational Technology, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with ESL Specialization, and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with Bilingual Specialization. All education courses are offered exclusively online and were designed specifically to meet the needs of busy education professionals.
