Amy Smith, Ed.D.

Dr. Amy L Smith joins the Department of Teaching and Learning as Adjunct Faculty.  Amy holds degrees in Environmental Science, Science Education and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction which focused on content literacy.  She is a certified Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Fellow and Persistence Scholar.  Amy’s twenty-plus years as an educator includes six years teaching in higher education; she currently teaches academic and career exploration courses at Arizona State University.  Her recent research investigated curriculum and instruction grounded in student authenticity and its impact on students’ sense of belonging and persistence.  Outside the world of education, Amy enjoys spending time with her kids, traveling, hiking, and single track.
