Irene Van Riper, Ed.D.

Dr. Irene Van Riper is joining the Department of Teaching and Learning as an adjunct. Irene earned her doctorate in Reading Education and Cognitive Studies from Widener University in Chester, PA. She holds a Master’s degree in Reading Education from UNC-Pembroke. Irene taught in the classroom for 15 years as a Reading Specialist and a special education teacher. She has been a professor of Literacy and Special Education since 2010. She has co-edited three books, and is certified by the Academy of Orton Gillingham to tutor individuals with dyslexia and other reading disabilities. She loves to garden, read, and spend time with her family. Irene is thrilled to join the ACE team!
