Kellee White, Ph.D.

Dr. Kellee White received her BSN from William Carey University in 1991 and has been in the field of nursing for 28 years. In 2007 she received an MSN in Nursing Leadership and Health Care Systems from Grand Canyon University. She then was hired at Kaplan University as an adjunct instructor to teach in the RN-BSN program. In 2010 she became a full-time faculty member at the Kaplan School of Nursing, which is now Purdue University Global. She received her PhD from William Carey University in 2019 in Nursing Education and Administration.
She has a wide variety of clinical specialty areas in nursing which include: pulmonary, telemetry, ICU, home health care, NICU, intermediate and well-baby nursery, telephone triage and public relations. Dr. White has served as a preceptor, charge nurse and liaison for community outreach and public relations at Forrest General Hospital. She spent a total of 19 years working in the clinical areas at Forrest General Hospital, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Dr. White’s dissertation focused on emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among online nursing faculty. She is a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association, American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Dr. White has over twelve years of nursing education experience in the online environment. She teaches in both the RN-BSN and MSN programs at Purdue University Global and has developed numerous online courses for both nursing and health sciences programs. Her philosophy and theoretical perspectives focus on the individual needs of the student. She believes in a student-centered approach as well as a collaborative approach in student learning. Her overall goal and philosophy are to bring together a student-centered approach with collaboration to create an online community that is comfortable to all students. Dr. White believes in motivation, structure, and participation, while facilitating a balance between both teacher and learner.
Dr. White has a passion for leadership, increased enrollment and retention rates, and global education. She is particularly interested in developing strategies to increase enrollment and retention rates in the online educational setting. Dr. White believes that examining the engagement strategies, as well as an institution’s credibility and financial stability are major indicators in online education when it comes to recruiting and retaining students. She is also pursuing a global research project in the summer of 2020 with a colleague from Thailand. It is her goal to become a global leader in online education and share her knowledge with others in the educational arena.
