Lesha Dawn Hickman, Ph.D.

Dr. Lesha Dawn Hickman immediately began teaching special education in Nashville, Tennessee after earning her bachelor's degree in 1989. During her thirty-year tenure in Tennessee schools, Dr. Hickman earned a Master’s degree in Administration and a PhD in Education. She spent her summers at Camp Discovery in Gainesboro, Tennessee, where she served as the Director for twelve years. Camp Discovery is a non-profit camp that serves adults and children with special needs throughout the summer.
Dr. Hickman began working at American College of Education in the Teaching and Learning Department in 2011. Since then she has completed several course revisions, been promoted to Sr. Core Faculty member and served as a committee member and chairperson for dissertation candidates for the past two years.
After retiring from Metro Nashville Public Schools in 2020, Dr. Hickman moved to Port St. Joe, Florida where she continues to teach and advise ACE students. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and landscaping projects. The time she most cherishes is spent watching the sunset from her front porch at the beach!
