Dr. Luis Javier Pentón Herrera is a United States Marine Corps (USMC) veteran and a passionate advocate-educator who has served and worked with different stakeholders at the state and national levels to make education more equitable for all learners. He has taught Spanish and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in elementary, middle, and high school, and has also taught educators at the undergraduate and graduate level. Presently, Luis serves as the 2019-2020 Past President of Maryland TESOL, as Trustee at The National Museum of Language, and as the co-editor of the newsletter TESOLers for Social Responsibility. His research interests and areas of expertise include Bilingual Education, Spanish, ESOL/ESL, Literacy Education, and Problem-Based Service-Learning (PBSL). To learn more about Luis’s academic research see his website: https://luispenton.com/
