Dr. Scott J. Hunt joined the Ohio Department of Education in the newly created role of Executive Director for the Office of Field Relations in April 2019. Dr. Hunt has 32 years of experience in the K - 12 and postsecondary educational settings. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Bethany College, Bethany, WV. While teaching in Naples, FL, he earned his master’s degree in education from the University of South Florida, focusing on guidance and counseling. He earned his EdD in education from NOVA Southeastern University, specializing in organizational leadership.
Dr. Hunt served for six years (2013-2019) as Superintendent of Cardinal Local Schools in Geauga County (Ohio). Prior to the superintendency, Dr. Hunt served 15 years (1998-2013) in the Perry Local School district in Lake County (Ohio) as a high school counselor, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, and Director of College and Career Readiness. He also spent 4 years (1994-1998) as a teacher and counselor in the Beachwood City Schools (Ohio), 1 year (1993-1994) as a middle school teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (Ohio), and 4 years (1989-1993) as a 5th grade teacher in the Collier County Public Schools in Naples, FL. Dr. Hunt also served as an adjunct professor at Lake Erie College.
