Yes. American College of Education is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
HLC is a federally recognized accrediting agency. To receive and maintain HLC accreditation, we must continually undergo routine peer review cycles and provide proof that our programs meet or exceed HLC expectations of quality.
After asking "Is American College of Education an accredited school?” the next question you might ask is, “What does this accreditation really mean?”
What does it mean to be regionally accredited?
There are six regional accreditation bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. These six agencies are based on geographic regions of the country and have similar standards for accrediting colleges and universities.
Regionally accredited colleges are mostly academically oriented, as opposed to technical or career-based schools. American College of Education’s regional accreditation is the same mark of quality that the Air Force Academy, the University of Michigan, Miami University (Ohio), and similar institutions have obtained.
Regional accreditation differs from national accreditation. Regional accreditation is older and generally more prestigious than national accreditation. Credits earned from regionally accredited institutions are more widely accepted and thus more easily transferable than credits from nationally accredited schools.
Nationally accredited schools are generally vocational, career or technical programs. If you are considering a nationally accredited college, it is important to ensure that the accrediting body is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
