Beyond Writing Papers: ACE’s Interactive and Engaging RN to MSN Program

Before enrolling in American College of Education’s RN to MSN program, I had been a nurse for nearly 13 years. The idea of writing papers and spending hours studying was why I never saw myself going back to school. In fact, upon graduation from my RN program, I swore off reading ever again. The way I saw it, I had already dedicated enough of my life to education and it was time to move on. And yet here I am, back in school, working toward my master’s degree. What changed my mind?

ACE did. Their fully online programs and unique instructional tools made going back to school accessible — in other words, learning at ACE is way more than just reading and writing papers. Here are three innovative experiences that are part of ACE’s RN to MSN program:

Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Learning Modules:  Studying on your own and listening to lectures aren’t the only ways to absorb information, and QSEN Learning Modules are a great alternative. These cutting-edge, interactive modules combine listening, reading and visualizing to assist with memory retention. Modules are organized and labeled for quick and easy navigation.

Shadow Health Avatars: In the digital clinical experience portion of the program, you interact with Shadow Health Avatars. These digitally simulated patients act and respond like real patients. The exercise is designed to improve your assessment, clinical reasoning and communication skills through patient examinations. This hands-on learning experience focuses solely on building up practical and applicable nursing skills.

Live interviews and interactions: While ACE’s nursing programs are fully online, they still encourage active participation. Your coursework may include phone calls, Zoom meetings or public health organizational meetings, and your instructors will encourage you to tailor these experiences to your interests or needs. By keeping assignment requirements versatile and engaging, ACE’s programs are manageable and stave off the burnout that often comes with standard coursework.

So while you will write some papers, you’ll be doing and learning far more than that at ACE!
