Tiffany Hamlett, Ph.D.
Teaching and Learning Chair

Dr. Tiffany Hamlett is the chair for the department of teaching and learning for American College of Education. She has a Ph.D. in Child Development from Texas Woman’s University, and has worked in higher education for eight years in various educational fields. Her background includes early childhood education, curriculum development, and research methods. She serves as a reviewer for Social Development and the Southern Early Childhood Association, and her research interests include developmentally appropriate practice, lifespan development, and constructivist-based teaching practices.

Shawntel Landry, Ed.D., M.B.A.
President 

Dr. Landry holds an M.B.A. from Texas Christian University, a master’s in gifted education from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Christian University. She taught grades 3-8 for five years in gifted and talented programs, after which she worked as a curriculum writer and editor for Voyager Expanded Learning and as an independent curriculum consultant. Dr. Landry has served as a faculty member and administrator with American College of Education since 2009.

Sean Nank, Ph.D.
Professor at ACE; professor at California State University San Marcos

Dr. Nank earned a Ph.D. from the University of California Riverside. He holds a K-12 professional clear single subject mathematics credential and received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). He has published two books, Testing over Teaching: Mathematics Education in the 21st Century and The Making of a Presidential Mathematics and Science Educator. Dr. Nank has worked with the United States Department of Education, National Science Foundation, California Department of Education, and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. He was also recently nominated as president of the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council. Dr. Nank is passionate about bringing effective mathematics education to students in a way that helps them connect to the material.

Rebecca Wiehe, Ph.D.
Academic Curriculum Director, Department of Teaching and Learning at American College of Education; Spanish teacher at Hudson High School

Dr. Rebecca Wiehe has 23 years of classroom teaching experience and works with ACE on revising and writing courses for graduate programs. She has a doctorate in curriculum and instruction and teaches a capstone class for ACE students. Wiehe has been honored for her work in getting English speakers excited about learning foreign languages, and the program she has built at her school has been emulated by several others. She has worked with her state legislature to pass legislation that allows students to pass a test to be certified as biliterate, going into effect in the fall of 2017.

Natalie Pelham, M.Ed.
ACE alumnus, Director of Faculty Training and Development at American College of Education

Natalie Pelham is an experienced elementary educator passionate about preparing the next generation of teachers. She teaches in the education program at University of North Florida and currently supports ACE’s faculty as they develop courses. Pelham is an ACE alumnus and the recipient of the 2016 Alumni Achievement Award. She spent seven years as an elementary school educator and is passionate about preparing future educators for the realities of the classroom.

Michelle Herrington, Ed.D.
Assistant Principal, St. Lucie Public Schools, ACE alumnus

Dr. Michelle Herrington is ACE’s first doctoral graduate, earning the degree in 2016 after also earning her master’s degree from the college in 2012. Her dissertation covered the impact of evaluative classroom observations on perceived teacher self-efficacy, and she continues to research best practices for teacher evaluation. Herrington is a champion for teacher collaboration, and says that collaboration between teachers is one of the most impactful things to come out of her ACE experience.

Dave Stuart, Jr., M.Ed.
History and English teacher at Cedar Springs High School; education blogger and speaker; ACE ambassador

In May 2012, while working on his master’s in curriculum and instruction at ACE, Dave started a blog called Teaching the Core (now davestuartjr.com). He hoped to use the blog to educate himself on the Common Core literacy standards, to serve as his ACE capstone project, and perhaps to encourage a few fellow educators. The blog exceeded those goals and has gained more than 35,000 monthly readers who engage in discussions ranging from Common Core literacy to common sense approaches to better, more sane teaching.

Dan Jones, M.Ed.
Social studies and language arts teacher and recent ACE alum

Dan Jones is a middle school social studies and language arts teacher at The Richland School of Academic Arts in Mansfield, Ohio, and has more than a decade of classroom teaching experience. His responsibilities encompass integrating Common Core Content Standards and State Assessment into the classroom curriculum and staff development. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from The Ohio State University, a bachelor’s degree in middle school education from Ashland University, and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from American College of Education in 2015.

Crystal Neumann, D.B.A
Program Chair Department of Leadership and Faculty, Doctoral Programs

Dr. Crystal Neumann is the chair of the leadership department at ACE. She previously worked in the marketing and market research fields before she transitioned to higher education to work with and motivate adult learners. Dr. Neumann holds a doctoral degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She previously taught marketing and public relations in Germany, and worked as an administrator and instructor within higher education. She has been published in several journals, and has presented at several national and international conferences. Her research interests are in leadership, marketing, and higher education. She enjoys being a part of every learner’s journey and seeing their growth throughout the program.
