Dr. Ashley Winans is a Core Faculty member for the Master’s of Health Informatics program. Her undergraduate work and first master’s degree is in English Literature and she later transitioned into health care. Ashley holds a Master’s in Health Informatics from National University in La Jolla, CA and a Doctor of Health Science from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. Her dissertation focused on the perceptions and use of health information technologies in rural areas. Ashley has taught in higher education (including traditional, online and blended modalities) for eight years alongside a professional career as a compliance officer, medical scribe, trainer, and informatics/analytics specialist in clinic and managed care environments. She is currently working on micro-credentials through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) focusing on Effective Online Teaching Practices. She is passionate about helping other on their health journeys and on weekends she can be found teaching paddleboard yoga in Ventura, CA.
