Dr. Carl Valdez is trained as an educator and has 17 years of experience as an educational psychologist. He views teaching and learning from a social and cultural perspective. In particular, he studies motivation, learning, and cognition as social and cultural interactions. In his work with educators, he has focused primarily on culturally relevant pedagogy, classroom practices, and bilingual education. He especially enjoys studying how cultural backgrounds impact culturally diverse populations.
