James Pedersen, Ed.D.

Dr. James Pedersen started his educational career as an assistant teacher working with students with Autism at Regional Day School in Jersey City. He then went on to teach English for the East Orange School District at Clifford J. Scott High School, where he received the Teacher of The Yearaward, and then later became assistant principal at East Orange Campus High School.

 

In 2010, he became the principal of South Plainfield High School,and was appointed superintendent for the Essex County Schools of Technology in 2015.

 

Dr. Pedersen has been an adjunct professor at several colleges and universities, including Felician University, Montclair University and New Jersey City University, and is the author of several articles and two books focusing on education: Rise of the Millennial Parents (2013) and Summer versus School: The Possibilities of the Year-Round School (2015).

 

Pedersen believes anything is possible through education, and that training new educators and educational leaders allows him the opportunity to help bridge the experiences of the past with the possibilities of the future.
