Maria Kronenburg, Ph.D.

Maria A. Kronenburg, Ph.D., M.B.A. will join the Healthcare Department as a Dissertation Committee member in healthcare.  Maria has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in healthcare management, business, health information systems, research, and population health at several universities for over 15 years.   She received her Ph.D. in Urban Health Services and her M.B.A.  from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. She earned her undergraduate degree in math from the College of William and Mary. Her professional background includes healthcare administration, healthcare information systems, quality improvement, cost-management, data analytics, decision support, project management, and program evaluation.   She has held several management positions at various healthcare organizations, including Children’s Health System in Norfolk, VA, the Center for Pediatric Research at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and a large health plan.   She was also a Senior Health Policy Analyst and program evaluator for the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. Her research interests are in the areas of healthcare management, population health,  quality of care, program evaluation, and distance learning. She has served as the President and board member in her local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).  She also worked as a research consultant for the City of Virginia Beach Department of Behavioral Health and Wellness Prevention Services, and  she has held leadership roles for the Coalition for Infant and Child Health (CINCH) in Virginia. She looks forward to working with students at ACE.
