Dr. Merle Point-Johnson is an experienced educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience in the online, face-to-face, and blended delivery platforms. In addition to her teaching experience, she has 20+ years of industry experience as a medical case manager, medical/dental/disability claims auditor, benefits analyst, and plan administrator.
Merle's research interest includes persistence decisions of adult learners and health policy and reform. She is passionate about community service and works with various community partners to support health and wellness initiatives, particularly in disenfranchised communities. She enjoys quality time with friends and family, traveling and entertaining. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing at the beach and listening to music.
Dr. Point's teaching philosophy encompasses three primary objectives - to inspire, challenge, and empower students to reach their full potential. She believes in student-centered learning and creating a dynamic learning environment where students are engaged and appropriately challenged to think beyond their comfort zone.
She enjoys "collecting" motivational quotes. One of her favorite quotes is "Be the change that you wish to see in the world" by Mahatma Ghandi.
