Annual Campaign Encourages College Members to Participate in Community Service

INDIANAPOLIS (September 1, 2021) -- In celebration of its fifth anniversary as a Certified B Corporation, American College of Education will kick off its annual Month of Service campaign on September 1, 2021. The month-long campaign encourages community service and volunteerism across the ACE community, highlighting the ways in which the college lives out its mission and core values.

Any time during the month of September, all ACE alumni, students, staff and faculty are encouraged to choose a day to volunteer with nonprofit organizations or charities in their communities, then celebrate and share that volunteerism on social media using the hashtag #ACEMonthofService.

“We’re thrilled to launch our second annual Month of Service campaign,” said KK Byland, vice president of human resources at ACE. “Giving back to our community is integral to who we are as an institution, and we hope the entire ACE community will join us in service this September. We’re excited to celebrate our fifth year of commitment to our B Corp mission.”

ACE as a B Corp
ACE was first certified as a B Corp in September 2016 and recertified in 2020. As businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose, B Corps form a community of leaders and drive a global movement of people using business as a force for good. ACE’s current B Corp Certification extends through 2022.

In 2020 alone, ACE faculty and staff completed over 1,300 individual civic hours, raised $10,711 for Indianapolis-area teachers to provide school supplies, and provided more than 13,680 meals for Indianapolis-area residents experiencing food insecurity. How to participate
Any time during the month of September, ACE encourages all alumni, students, faculty and staff to post a picture of themselves on social media volunteering at their chosen organization with the hashtag #ACEMonthofService, tagging American College of Education on the relevant social media platform (Twitter: @ACEedu, Instagram: @ace_edu, Facebook: @AmericanCollegeofEducation and LinkedIn: @American College of Education). For those who do not use social media or would prefer to keep their social media accounts private, participate by sending your photo to social@ace.edu.
