Indy-based online college offers flexible workplace, progressive benefits and more

INDIANAPOLIS – For the third year in a row, American College of Education (ACE) has been named one of the 125 Best Places to Work in Indiana. The elite group of corporate honorees were selected based on employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys.BPTWIN Logo 2019

“Consistently being named as a ‘Best Place to Work’ is a reflection of our commitment to providing our employees a dynamic work environment in which they continue to learn and grow,” said KK Byland, ACE vice president of human resources and B Corp benefits officer. “It’s no coincidence that our student satisfaction rates and our employee satisfaction rates are both above 90 percent. Happy staff and faculty equal happy students.”

In addition to the “Best Places to Work in Indiana” honors, ACE in 2018 was named as one of only two Indiana employers to receive the prestigious When Work Works Award, which recognizes companies across the country who are making a splash with progressive workplace policies.

“ACE is ecstatic to be named an Indiana Best Place to Work yet again,” said ACE President Shawntel Landry. "This is truly a testament to our dedication to our students. Our employees are the core of the College and work hard at having an amazing culture that focuses on strong student-centric values, high productivity, and balancing our work and personal lives.”

ACE’s commitment to balance is made possible by progressive employee benefits, including a flexible remote-work policy, paid parental leave, civic hours, and tuition assistance. Additionally, ACE was the first Certified B Corporation and Benefit Corporation in the state of Indiana. These certifications set ACE apart as a socially conscious institution by meeting the rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Indiana. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Indiana, analyzed the data, and determined the final rankings.

On April 30, the companies nominated will be invited to the Best Places to Work in Indiana Awards Dinner at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, where they will learn their official ranking. ACE previously scored the No. 7 spot in the medium-sized companies division (those with 75-249 employees nationwide) in 2018 and No. 6 in 2017.
