INDIANAPOLIS – American College of Education (ACE) announced on Wednesday the appointment of Dr. Shawntel Landry as their new president, effective July 1, 2017.

Landry joined ACE in 2009 and became interim president in 2013. Previously, she worked in senior vice president, assistant/associate provost and provost capacities for the college in program development and coordination, curriculum and assessment, and institutional effectiveness and assessment.

She also taught grades three through eight for several years in gifted and talented programs, later working as a curriculum writer and editor for Voyager Expanded Learning, and then as an independent curriculum consultant.

“Dr. Landry's appointment as president of American College of Education reflects the strong leadership she has provided as interim president,” said Dr. James Spaniolo, chairman of the board of trustees at ACE. “Her dedication to student success, affordability and high quality instruction has led to exemplary results and impact. We are excited about what ACE will accomplish in the months and years ahead.”

An advocate for student-first approaches to operations and programming, Landry developed the college’s first yearly Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) report and guided the development of a new mission, vision, and revised core values. She also guided the college to become the first company in Indiana that is both a certified B Corp and a Benefit Corporation. Under her leadership, ACE reached its highest historical enrollment at year-end 2016, which resulted in growing the college by 50 percent since becoming interim president.

Landry earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and MBA from Texas Christian University, a master’s in Gifted Education and a bachelor’s in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
