A proud Southerner, Dr. Erick Moffett received his early education in Texas before moving to Mississippi and discovering a passion for teaching. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry and, later, his master's and doctorate degrees. He has completed studies abroad, spending some time in Mexico and gaining fluency in Spanish. Dr. Moffett is a veteran educator with experience in K-12 and higher education settings. His academic accomplishments as a science educator date back to his first year teaching 8th grade science, where he was recognized for his remarkable commitment to his students' record academic growth on the state science assessment. Since then, Dr. Moffett has served as a science instructor for both online and brick-and-mortar institutions, led professional development sessions on STEM literacy as a consultant, and published research. His research interests include the use of modeling to increase students' understanding of abstract science concepts. In his free time, he enjoys being with his family and playing various musical instruments.
